Point and laugh at this seller's asking price, but mainly enjoy the photos. She's amazing. May TRU have one in stock when I check on Tuesday. *crosses fingers* Probably the worst thing about living over here is that the nearest subway station is rather far away and it's lines I rarely use. I've got to trek there, then do a transfer to get on a line that will take me to TRU and Target, so I can't just run out and go dolly hunting as much as I'd like to. Brooklyn was better for that.

Last night miome and I went on a cruise on Lake Michigan where we ate good food, listened to okay music, watched the Chicago fireworks over the lake from the cruise, and then watched drunk people attempt to dance on a rocking boat. Good times.

The most exciting part though was when our fairly large cruise boat (this thing had three enclosed decks that seated at least 50-60 people each and a fourth observation deck) was hit by a much smaller boat with two decks that could have held 20 people max. I sat hit by since at the time we were pretty much stationary or as stationary as a boat can get on choppy water. This was right after we'd almost gotten rammed by a sailboat that had somehow managed to avoid us. There were dozens on boats out on the water trying to watch the fireworks.

Smaller boat was one of them. The captain of the cruise ship blew the horn several times trying to warn smaller boat. Nope. Hit us. Of course, the captain of the smaller was severely displeased by this and started shouting a bunch of fairly foul names at us. This was heard by most of the passengers because we were all outside waiting for the fireworks to start. Most of us just laughed.

Well, captain of the smaller boat decides to reverse and get his boat off ours. In the process, he almost runs into another larger cruise boat. So what do a bunch of bored, mostly drunk adults do when they see this? Why they start shouting helpful hints!

"Watch out behind you!"
"Don't hit their boat like you hit ours!"
"Little bit more. Little bit more. Stop! You're close enough!"

Not good enough for the captain of the smaller boat. He manages to somehow hit our boat again. Well, the US Coast Guard ship didn't take to kindly to that. It came flying over, chewed the smaller vessel out, and made him take his vessel far away from ours. Then focused a spotlight on the vessel until they did. Then the Coast Guard boarded their vessel, probably to check to see if the captain had been partaking of some celebratory booze. We all laughed then moved to another deck to see the awesome fireworks.

As you can see, an exciting time. XD

After some food and a nap, I was raring to go, so I put together my metal cube shelving. It made nine cubes for massive display action. I popped in here to grab my last doll box. Then they'll be all set, aside from the American Girls and Revelation. (She's out. I just need to get her chair from one of my garbage bags full of stuffed toys and doll boxes. That's a task for later today after I get more sleep.)

I'm very happy with how the shelves look. A lot of the dolls are divided by type, but there's some mixing going on, too. Bratz are in most cubes. Meygan, Nevra and Roxxi are manning their goth club, filled with BEGoths, the Rock Angels and Hawthorn. The other "darker" Bratz have taken over the corner shelving in another part of the room. The Kurhns, Runes and Jennys have two cubes, the My Scenes have one, Pullips one and a half, etc. A lot of the Beauty Bug Ball cast is put away, but the bitchy princess clique, Jane, Giselle, Mulan and Pocahontas are out, along with Eric, Fiona, Sleeping Beauty (Shrek) and Snow White (Shrek).

I'm honestly not sure if the BBB is going to continue. I have more ideas, but I don't have a lot of picfic space in this apartment. We'll see.

Also on a princess note, remember those cheap MGA princesses I won? The seller still hasn't given me a total. GRR.

All righty, back to my space!

I got out of work an hour early, since it's the day before a holiday. (Ah, the privileges of GHAdom.) So after heading back to Brooklyn and officially checking out of my building, I headed for TRU to check for new dolls.

I spotted...

-The Snap-On Kidz rock girls. Cloe's hair is not as vibrant as it was in the promo. Both of them are easy passes.

-New Li'l Angelz Dana...with HAIR. Yep, rooted hair. It's in the 1st Kidz Sasha/Pampered Pups Sasha style. She comes with a white unicorn with purple hair and a pink unicorn. Yep, both pets have big curly hair, too.

-Whatever the new hair color line is: 2 Cloes, 1 Leah. Leah is quite pretty, but her outfit looks cheap in person, so it's of no use to me. Also, she had no lip liner on the right side of her top lip. I put her down and then noticed her gone a few minutes later. Heh. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering about her shoes, they're nothing new or special. Just a standard pair of strappy heels like we've seen millions of times.

Then a bit of aqua and white caught my eye. I did an entertaining fangirl swoop towards a box on the floor. REALLY ROCK CLOE! Her outfits are amazing. I can't wait to debox her and try the main one on Nevaeh. Not sure who's getting the dress yet. Maybe Madrigal. It'd be cute on her. It's too girly for Evelyn and not skimpy enough for Meridien. Cloe herself is...okay, boring. They really should have kept the red lips. She looks quite bit like Treasures Cloe. Her eyes are pretty neat. They're kind of a lavender gray with light aqua highlights. Anyways, I nabbed that box and hung onto it like a mother to a cub. She was $22.99, which wasn't surprising. Times Square TRU, y'all. I saw the sign on the shelf, but no other dolls. A quick inquiry led me to discover that they only got two in. Two? MGA only puts two in a box? Weird. So my Cloe was one. I'd be willing to bet half my collection that Yasmin was the other. I'd be surprised if it was Jade. If there are only gonna be two, Cloe and Yas seem the most likely. Anyways, I'm really glad I went today, because I bet she wouldn't have been there if I didn't go until tomorrow.

So that's what was new on the Bratz front. I was also psyched to find the Barbie Candy Glam line. Summer proved disappointing. Her face is boring and she looks like just another Barbie. But Raquelle. HOO! She's HOT. And mine. She and Teresa (or whoever the one in green is) are the short-packed ones. They had four Barbie and four Summer, but only two of the other girls. Sadly, they don't have the articulated body, but my Raquelle may be stealing the body of my Rocker Raquelle. She's WAY prettier.

I also spotted those wedding Disney dolls with the dress that have blue or yellow at the bottom. Sadly, not one is decent. They all look cheap. There were also an odd Cinderella and Aurora in tall cylindrical boxes. Not pretty.

Oh, and Hannah Montana fans, I saw new Hannah (in pink), Miley (in white/blue top) and Lily (in orange) in the summer line. Same skinny aqua boxes, new dolls.

Whew! Big day. The bad news is that I won't be able to post pics for quite awhile. I don't think I'll be able to get an ethernet cable before Tuesday.

But yeah, get thee to TRU for new dollies. I still really want Jade. I wonder when they'll get more in.

Whoever told us that the Museum of Science and Industry was good? Lied. I have never seen a museum so full of corporate sponsorship in my life. I don't mean "Hall of Goodyear" kind of sponsorship. I mean like the model train had John Deere tractors and cars on it, the Farm technology had two large John Deere tractors, and they listed John Deere prominently on other exhibits as a sponsor. They also had whole exhibits that were quite obviously designed just for a company. For example, a whole area about how great manufacturing and robotics with Allen Bradley's name all over it.

I've also never seen a museum more devoted to trying to get money from you. Besides the usual admission, "special exhibit" and Omni theater experience you also have places within the actual exhibits where if you wanted to participate in the exhibits you had to fork over money. It was ridiculous.

I much preferred going to the Robie House, to the Oriental Institute, and the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.

EDIT: I did forget to mention the one good thing about the museum of Science and Industry. In the farm section, they had a station where you and a partner raced each other to see who could put a milker on a plastic cow's udders quicker. miome and I stopped to watch people make fools of themselves. It was hilarious to watch a woman in a short black dress and heels squat down to do this. XD

Hi guys, I found an old Canadian catalog while rooting through a box of junk. I scanned a few pages. I don't know if anyone has scanned it in before...so if you want the whole thing, LMK!

Ack. Gasp. Okay, June is over, with all of the running around end-of-school stuff. Whew.

Girl Genius Volume Seven is officially here. We, along with several helpers, moved six skids of boxes into our dwindling storage space. Ouch.

Last I was told, all of the Volume Seven orders placed prior to the 21st have been shipped. More have probably gone out since then. If you pre-ordered Volume Seven and don't get your book within three weeks or so, please let us know so we can sort things out. (Although it may take a little more time if you are not in the USA.) As usual, there are Soft cover and Hard cover editions.

Today, the Jäger pins arrived! They're lovely, the 3D effect really worked out well. Check out my LJ icon for a picture. (You can also steal the icon, if you want to...)

I just deboxed them, but I'm too tired for photos. So random thoughts instead.

-Peyton's got the cuter outfit, but Nevaeh's the better doll.

-Nevaeh's hair is amazing. Peyton's I find so so. I think she reminds me a tad too much of FG Nora. One pink streak on the underside of her hair would have helped.

-Love Peyton's accessories though. Nevaeh's bug me a bit because no one in all that red would wear pink sunglasses. A red and black bracelet would have been better than white and black, too.

-Love the kitties! Although they could have made them twinish, too, by giving Nevaeh a blue-eyed dark gray Burmese instead of a black cat. Brown eyes aren't common on cats, so the Burmese would have been more realistic.

-No poster? No sticker? Sad face.

Sounds like I'm complaining, but I do love them. Nevaeh will likely be upgraded to one of the Really Rock outfits once those dolls come out.

The free trolleys in Chicago suck great big donkey dick.

My feet hurt.

My stomach needs to stop being a pain (or at least stop causing me pain).

The aquarium and Millennium Park are both awesome.

Also, the first day we were here was the day of the Chicago gay pride parade and we totally didn't know it. Oops?

Like everyone else, I adore Nevaeh and Peyton. I got mine today, but I'm too pooped to debox them just yet. (I'm fighting a minor cold or an allergy attack, so I weaken more easily. I've been up since 7 and need food and a nap.) Unlike everyone else (I think?), I like Peyton's stock better. Plaid doesn't do it for me and hot pink fishnet = 80sgasm. I am very grateful to the TRU gods that sent me ones with perfect facepaint, too. Now I don't have to pray they show up somewhere else so I can buy a nice set and return the bad one. The Bratz...ARE BACK. Wicked.

Also, thanks to the influential pics of vaporizersmith, I got my first 1991 series SSC doll. Raspberry! Raspberry Tart was my childhood fave aside from Sour Grapes. I didn't own Lime until I got her for $5 at a flea market in...1990 or so, so I don't count her as a true childhood fave. And Crepes Suzette is my adult fave. Anyways...this line is ADORABLE. Raspberry smells fantastic and is in perfect shape. I lucked into her near mint. The bubble of her package is loose, but the doll and outfits are in fab shape. Yay!

Ugh, must go eat and sleep. Maybe pics later.
